The Mini Owners Club of Queensland presented the clubs third big Mini event with the"OZ 40 ... 40 years of Mini Down Under" ... a big Mini 2001 celebration and Gala Day to commemorate not only the entry of the European Car of the Century into the Year 2001, a car which has spanned two centuries, but more importantly, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the birth of the Mini in Australia. Following on from the vastly successful "MINI 40" at Norwell in 1999,an event to celebrate the Mini's 40th U.K. birthday in our first year of inception where the Mini Owners Club of Queensland proudly hosted a Queendland attendance record of 327 MINIs, and the acclaimed "MINI 2000" at Lakeside in 2000 to commemorate the Mini's entry into the 21st Century, we again were proud to present another premier MINI event of the Australian Motoring Calendar for the year 2001 at historic Lakeside International Raceway north of Brisbane on Sunday June 10, 2001. It was anticipated that many more enthusiasts, both local,intersate and overseas would attend the celebrations, as we were not disapointed. Visitors from all states in Australia as well as visitors fron New Zealand, USA, Japan and U.K. joined the activities The OZ40 was very successful with over 300 Minis & Mokes and 2,000 plus people helped celebrate the Australian 40th Birthday of the famous little car, The Mini. . |
